What a standard install includes

Our starting prices cover a complete, working system. Many London quotes include only 3 m of pipe; ours include 5 m.

  • Indoor and outdoor unit from the brand and range you choose
  • Up to 5 m of insulated refrigerant pipe, run in neat white trunking
  • Outdoor wall bracket or ground stand
  • Gravity condensate drain to a suitable outside point
  • Connection to a suitable existing fused spur
  • Nitrogen pressure test and deep vacuum before any refrigerant is released
  • Commissioning: pressures, temperatures and airflow checked in cooling and heating
  • F-Gas record of the refrigerant in your system
  • Manufacturer warranty registration, done for you
  • Handover: how to use the remote, app, timers and filters
  • Dust sheets down and everything cleaned up before we leave

Extras that can change the price

Some homes need more than a standard install. These are typical London market ranges from published installer price lists, so you know what to expect. Any extra is itemised on your written quote before you agree to anything.

How installation works

  1. Tell us about the rooms

Use the quote form, call or send a WhatsApp. Room sizes, your postcode and a couple of photos of the walls are enough to start.

  2. Survey

We measure each room, check which way it faces, plan the pipe route and outdoor position, and look at your electrics, planning and consent position.

  3. Written quote

A fixed price, the exact model, the manufacturer warranty for that model and everything included. A 20% deposit books your date, refunded in full if you cancel within 14 days.

  4. Install day

Dust sheets down, one neat hole through the wall, units mounted level, pipes run in trunking. Most single rooms are done in a day.

  5. Test and commission

We pressure test with nitrogen, pull a deep vacuum, release the refrigerant and check the system in cooling and heating before we call it finished.

  6. Handover

We show you the controls, register the warranty and give you the paperwork. The balance is due on completion and handover.

Getting the size right

The kW figure on a unit is how much heat it moves, not how much electricity it uses. As a rule of thumb, a 2.5 kW unit suits a bedroom or study, 3.5 kW a living room, and 5 kW an open-plan space or a loft.

Rooms aren't all equal. South-facing glass, roof windows, a top floor or lots of people push the size up. A unit that's too big switches on and off constantly, which is noisier and less efficient. A unit that's too small runs flat out and never quite gets there. We work it out room by room at the survey, not from a chart.

Planning permission and leasehold flats

In England, a heating-capable outdoor unit on a house is often permitted development, as long as it meets limits on size, number, position and noise. A unit used only for cooling doesn't qualify. Listed buildings always need consent, and in conservation areas units can't go on a wall or roof facing the road.

In a leasehold flat you'll almost always need written consent from the freeholder, often called a licence for alterations, whatever the planning position. We check both at the survey and can give you the unit's spec sheet and noise figures to send to your managing agent.

The brands we install

We install Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, LG and Panasonic. All four make reliable, quiet, efficient split systems, and all four heat as well as cool. The real differences are in the range you choose within a brand.

Value ranges keep the cost down. Premium ranges such as Daikin Perfera, Panasonic Etherea and Mitsubishi Electric MSZ-AY are quieter and cheaper to run. Design ranges such as Daikin Emura, Mitsubishi Electric Zen and LG Artcool look better on the wall. At their quietest, indoor units run at around 19 dB(A), about a whisper.

Your guarantee and manufacturer warranty

Every install comes with our own guarantee, on top of the manufacturer's warranty and your legal rights.

  • 2-year workmanship guarantee on everything we fit. It transfers to the new owner if you sell.
  • No labour charge for manufacturer faults in the first 2 years.
  • We register the manufacturer warranty for you. Manufacturers give longer warranties through accredited installers, and your quote states the exact cover for your model.
  • Servicing by any F-Gas certified engineer keeps the warranty valid. It doesn't have to be us.
  • Your 20% deposit is refunded in full if you cancel within the 14-day cancellation period.

Installation questions

How much does air conditioning installation cost in London?

Our home installs start at £1,850 for a 2.5 kW wall unit in a bedroom, £2,050 for a 3.5 kW living room unit and £2,450 for a 5 kW unit, all including VAT. Two rooms on one outdoor unit start at £3,650. Business installs start at £1,795 + VAT. You get a fixed written price after the survey.

How long does it take to install air conditioning?

A single wall unit usually takes 4–8 hours, so it's done in a day. A multi-split for two to four rooms takes 1–3 days. A ducted whole-house system takes 3–5 days or more on site.

How much mess does installation make?

Not much. We drill one hole through the wall per indoor unit, under dust sheets with the dust extracted as we go. Pipes run in white trunking, and we clean up before we leave. If you're decorating anyway, we can plan a hidden pipe route instead.

Do I need planning permission for air conditioning?

Often not for a heating-capable unit on a house in England, if it meets the permitted development limits on size, position and noise. Cooling-only units, listed buildings and road-facing walls in conservation areas usually need permission. We check at the survey. Our planning guide has the detail.

Can I have air conditioning in a leasehold flat?

Usually yes, but you'll almost always need the freeholder's written consent first, and the landlord's if you rent. We'll help with the information they ask for, such as the spec sheet, noise figures and where the outdoor unit will go.

Is there VAT on air conditioning installation?

Our home prices include VAT, so the price shown is the price you pay. Business premises are quoted plus VAT at 20%.

What warranty do I get?

Our own 2-year workmanship guarantee, which transfers if you sell, plus the manufacturer warranty, which we register for you. We don't charge labour for manufacturer faults in the first 2 years. Your quote states the exact manufacturer cover for your model.

Are your engineers F-Gas certified?

Yes. We're F-Gas and REFCOM certified. By law, only certified engineers and companies can install systems that contain refrigerant, so always check before you book anyone.
