Why choose Mitsubishi Electric
Mitsubishi Electric is a Japanese manufacturer with a long track record in UK homes and offices. Its M Series wall units are known for quiet running, good heating and a wide spread of sizes.
That size range matters in London. The MSZ-AP starts at 1.5 kW, small enough for a box room or a narrow study without the unit being oversized. At the other end, the same range goes up to 7.1 kW for large open-plan rooms. Mitsubishi Electric costs about the same as Daikin, and more than LG.
- Small bedrooms and studies: compact sizes from 1.5 kW
- Rooms that need to look good: MSZ-LN colours and the MSZ-EF Zen panel
- Heating through winter: Hyper Heating versions of the MSZ-LN
- Lower-impact refrigerant: the MSZ-RZ runs on R290
- Several rooms: MXZ multi-split outdoor units

Heating with Mitsubishi Electric
Every M Series wall unit is a heat pump, so it heats a room as well as cooling it. For homes that want to lean on it through winter, Hyper Heating versions of the MSZ-LN are built to hold their heat output in very cold weather.
If heating is the main reason you want air conditioning, tell us at the survey. We size the system for the room's heat loss as well as summer cooling, which sometimes means a different model or outdoor unit.
Multi-split and commercial systems
Mitsubishi Electric's MXZ multi-split outdoor units run several indoor units from one place outside. You can mix wall units with floor consoles or concealed ducted units, which helps in period homes where one room has no good wall for a unit.
For businesses, Mitsubishi Electric makes Mr Slim ceiling cassettes and ducted systems, and City Multi for larger buildings. We survey every commercial job before quoting.
App and controls
Each unit comes with a handheld remote. For phone control, Mitsubishi Electric's current app is MELCloud Home, which has replaced the older MELCloud app. It covers on and off, temperature, mode, schedules and energy use.
The MSZ-LN has its Wi-Fi interface built in. On other models it may be built in or an add-on, so your quote says which and includes it if you want app control.
How the Mitsubishi Electric warranty works
Mitsubishi Electric links the warranty length to the installer's tier in its partner programme. This is general information from Mitsubishi Electric, not a statement about us.
| Partner tier | What it involves | AC warranty available |
|---|---|---|
| Accredited Installer | Mitsubishi Electric's entry partner tier | Up to 5 years |
| Business Solutions Partner | A higher tier with more support from Mitsubishi Electric | Up to 7 years |
| Diamond Quality Partner | The top tier, with installations checked by independent experts | Up to 10 years |

Keeping your warranty valid
Your written quote states the exact Mitsubishi Electric warranty for your model, whether it covers parts and labour, and the servicing it needs. Plan on a service every 12 months and keep the record. We register the system for you and give you the confirmation.
Our own 2-year workmanship guarantee covers the installation itself and transfers to the new owner if you sell. In the first 2 years we don't charge labour to fix a manufacturing fault. Any F-Gas certified engineer can service your system without affecting our guarantee.
Mitsubishi Electric servicing and repairs
We service and repair Mitsubishi Electric systems, including ones we didn't fit. A service cleans the filters, coils and drain, checks the refrigerant circuit and electrics, and gives you a written record.
If the indoor unit is flashing or showing a code, note the pattern and the model number from the label on the side of the unit. Send them when you book a repair and we'll tell you what it usually points to.
Mitsubishi Electric questions
How much does Mitsubishi Electric air conditioning cost to install in London?
A single MSZ-HR wall unit in a bedroom starts from £1,850 fitted, with 5 m of pipe. The MSZ-AP or MSZ-AY adds from £250 per indoor unit, and the MSZ-LN or Zen adds from £550. Two rooms on one outdoor unit start from £3,650.
What do Accredited Installer, Business Solutions Partner and Diamond mean?
They are tiers in Mitsubishi Electric's partner programme. Mitsubishi Electric says they unlock air conditioning warranties of up to 5, 7 and 10 years. The warranty you actually get depends on the installer's tier and the model, so ask for it in writing. Ours is stated on every quote.
Which Mitsubishi Electric unit is best for a bedroom?
The MSZ-LN is the usual choice. Mitsubishi Electric's datasheet gives 19 dB(A) on the quietest setting for the smaller sizes, which is about a whisper. The MSZ-AP is a good lower-cost option for spare rooms.
What is Hyper Heating?
It is Mitsubishi Electric's name for outdoor units designed to keep heating well when it is very cold outside. It is offered with the MSZ-LN. It suits homes that plan to use air conditioning as a main source of heat in winter.
Is a 1.5 kW unit enough for a small bedroom?
Often, yes. Many London box rooms and small studies need less than 2 kW. A unit that is too big switches on and off more, which is less comfortable and less efficient. We measure the room at the survey and recommend the right size.
Do I need to service Mitsubishi Electric air conditioning every year?
Yes. Plan on a service every 12 months to keep the warranty and the system in good order. Any F-Gas certified engineer can do it. Our annual service starts from £119, with a written record each time.
Will you repair a Mitsubishi Electric system someone else fitted?
Yes. We repair and service Mitsubishi Electric systems whoever installed them. If it is still under warranty, tell us when you book so we can check what is covered before charging for parts.
Should I choose Mitsubishi Electric or Daikin?
Both are quiet and efficient, and prices are similar. Mitsubishi Electric has the smaller 1.5 kW size and the MSZ-LN colours. Daikin has more design choice with Emura and Stylish. We fit both and will recommend whichever suits your rooms.
