Daikin is a Japanese manufacturer that specialises in air conditioning and heat pumps. Its UK home range is wide, from simple value units to design pieces, so there is a sensible Daikin option for most rooms and budgets.
Daikin is a strong choice when you want quiet bedrooms, efficient heating as well as cooling, or a unit that looks good on show. It is not the cheapest brand. If price matters most, LG often costs less for the same size of room.

Multi-split
Daikin multi-split and commercial systems
A Daikin multi-split runs several indoor units from one outdoor unit. Daikin says a single outdoor unit can serve up to five rooms. You can mix ranges, so a Perfera in the bedroom and an Emura in the living room can share one outdoor unit. It suits London terraces and flats where there is room for only one unit outside.
For shops, offices and restaurants, Daikin makes ceiling cassettes, concealed ducted units and larger commercial systems such as Sky Air and VRV. We survey commercial jobs first, because the right answer depends on the ceiling, the layout and how the space is used.
App and controls
Every Daikin unit comes with a handheld remote. For control from your phone, Daikin's app is called Onecta. It lets you switch rooms on and off, set temperatures and schedules from home or away.
Some Daikin models have Wi-Fi built in and some need an add-on adaptor. Your quote says which, so there are no surprises on the day.
How the Daikin warranty works
Daikin's warranty on split air conditioning runs through the installer. How long it lasts depends on the installer's status in Daikin's partner programme. This is general information from Daikin, not a statement about us.

Keeping your Daikin warranty valid
Daikin requires the system to be maintained every year and may ask for proof. We register the system with Daikin for you within its deadline and give you the confirmation.
On top of the manufacturer warranty, our own 2-year workmanship guarantee covers the installation and stays with the property if you sell. In the first 2 years we don't charge labour to fix a Daikin manufacturing fault. Any F-Gas certified engineer can service the system without affecting our guarantee, though our maintenance plans make the yearly service easy to remember.
Daikin servicing and repairs
We service and repair Daikin systems whoever fitted them. A service covers filters, coils, drains, refrigerant checks and a written record for your warranty file.
If a Daikin unit is showing an error code, send us the code and the model number from the label on the side of the indoor unit. We'll tell you what it usually means before we visit.

A single Daikin wall unit in a bedroom or study starts from £1,850 fitted, with 5 m of pipe. A living room size starts from £2,050. Perfera adds from £250 per indoor unit, and Emura or Stylish adds from £550. Your quote is fixed after a survey.
What is the difference between a Daikin Certified Installer and a D1 partner?
They are tiers in Daikin's installer programme. Daikin says a Certified Installer can offer up to 5 years of warranty on air conditioning, and D1 and D1+ partners up to 7 years. D1 needs a year of trading with Daikin, more training and higher sales. Whoever you use, ask for the warranty for your exact model in writing. Ours is on every quote.
Which Daikin unit is best for a bedroom?
Perfera is the usual choice for its quiet running and efficiency. Daikin quotes sound levels down to 19 dB(A) on its quietest setting, which is about as loud as a whisper. Sensira and Comfora are also quiet on low fan and cost less, so they suit spare rooms and smaller budgets.
Can Daikin air conditioning heat my home in winter?
Yes. The Daikin units we fit are heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. They are an efficient way to heat a room with electricity. Daikin also makes a Perfera version (FTXTM) built for cold weather, which Daikin says keeps heating down to -30°C outside.
Do I have to service my Daikin every year?
Yes, if you want to keep the manufacturer warranty. Daikin requires yearly maintenance and may ask for proof. Any F-Gas certified engineer can do it. Our annual service starts from £119, and we give you a written record each time.
Will you repair a Daikin system someone else installed?
Yes. We repair and service Daikin systems whoever fitted them. If it is still under warranty, tell us when you book and bring the paperwork if you have it. We'll check what is covered before charging for parts.
Is Daikin better than Mitsubishi Electric?
Neither is better across the board. Both make quiet, efficient units with strong heating. Daikin has more design choices with Emura and Stylish. Mitsubishi Electric's MSZ-LN is a strong rival to Perfera. We fit both and will recommend whichever suits the room and budget.
Can I control Daikin air conditioning from my phone?
Yes, with Daikin's Onecta app. Some models have Wi-Fi built in and others need a small adaptor. We confirm which on your quote and set the app up with you at handover.
