Why choose Panasonic
Panasonic is a Japanese manufacturer with a complete air conditioning range, from compact wall units to ceiling cassettes and commercial systems. Its home units are quiet, efficient and compact, and they usually cost a little less than Daikin or Mitsubishi Electric.
Panasonic suits flats and smaller rooms well. The 2.5 kW TZ is only 779 mm wide, so it fits above a door or between a window and a corner where a wider unit won't. Many Panasonic home units also include nanoe X, Panasonic's built-in air treatment feature.
- Bedrooms: Panasonic lists the Etherea at 19 dB(A) on its quietest setting
- Tight walls: the 2.5 kW TZ super-compact is 779 mm wide
- Cold-weather heating: Panasonic says the CZ keeps heating down to -25°C outside
- Under windows: a floor console in 2.5, 3.5 and 5.0 kW
- App control: Panasonic Comfort Cloud

Multi-split and commercial systems
Panasonic multi-split systems run several indoor units from one outdoor unit. Panasonic sells Etherea multi-split kits for two and three rooms, and a Free Multi system for larger homes that need more rooms or different indoor unit types.
For businesses, Panasonic makes ceiling cassettes, low-height concealed ducted units only 200 mm high, and the larger PACi and ECOi commercial ranges. We survey commercial jobs before quoting, because the ceiling and layout decide what will fit.
App and controls
Every unit comes with a remote. For phone control, Panasonic's app is Comfort Cloud. You can switch rooms on and off, set temperatures and schedules, and see energy use.
The Etherea, TZ and floor console have Wi-Fi built in, according to Panasonic. On ceiling cassettes, Comfort Cloud is an optional extra, so we list it on the quote if you want it.
How the Panasonic warranty works
Panasonic gives its warranty to the installer, and the length depends on the installer's tier. This is general information from Panasonic, not a statement about us.
| Installer tier | What Panasonic asks for | Warranty, parts and labour |
|---|---|---|
| Installer | Competent and F-Gas certified | 3 years |
| Accredited Installer | Panasonic online training every 3 years, and each unit registered on PRO Club | 5 years |
| PRO Partner or Elite PRO Partner | A signed PRO Partner contract and face-to-face training every 3 years | 7 years |

Keeping your Panasonic warranty valid
Panasonic asks for each system to be registered within 30 days of installation and serviced every year, with records kept. We register it for you and give you the confirmation. Because Panasonic's warranty runs through the installer, the installer attends first if a fault appears and deals with Panasonic.
Our own 2-year workmanship guarantee covers the installation and stays with the property if you sell. In the first 2 years we don't charge labour to fix a Panasonic manufacturing fault. Any F-Gas certified engineer can do the yearly service without affecting our guarantee.
Panasonic servicing and repairs
We service and repair Panasonic systems, including ones we didn't fit. A service cleans the filters, coils and drain, checks the refrigerant circuit and electrics, and gives you a written record for your warranty file.
If the unit is flashing or showing a code, send us the code and the model number from the label on the indoor unit when you book a repair. We'll tell you what it usually points to before we visit.
Panasonic questions
How much does Panasonic air conditioning cost to install in London?
A TZ wall unit in a bedroom or study starts from £1,850 fitted, with 5 m of pipe. A living room size starts from £2,050. The Etherea adds from £250 per indoor unit, and a floor console starts from £2,350.
What is the difference between the Panasonic Etherea and the TZ?
The TZ is the compact, lower-cost unit, made for tight walls. The Etherea is the premium unit, with a choice of finishes and the quietest sound level in the range, which Panasonic gives as 19 dB(A). Both heat and cool and both have Wi-Fi built in.
What does Panasonic Accredited Installer or PRO Partner mean?
They are tiers in Panasonic's installer programme. Panasonic's published terms give 3 years of parts and labour cover as standard, 5 years through an Accredited Installer and 7 years through a PRO Partner. Whoever you use, ask for the warranty for your exact model in writing. Ours is on every quote.
What is nanoe X?
It is Panasonic's name for an air treatment feature built into many of its indoor units. It runs alongside heating and cooling. We don't make health claims for it, so read Panasonic's own information if it matters to you.
Does Panasonic need servicing every year?
Yes. Panasonic's warranty terms ask for annual maintenance with records kept. Any F-Gas certified engineer can do it. Our annual service starts from £119, with a written record each time.
Can a Panasonic unit heat my home in winter?
Yes. Panasonic's home units are heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. If heating is the main job, the CZ is built for cold weather, and Panasonic says it keeps heating down to -25°C outside. We size the system for heating at the survey.
Will you repair a Panasonic system someone else installed?
Yes. We repair and service Panasonic systems whoever fitted them. Because Panasonic's warranty runs through the installer, contact the original installer first if it is still under warranty. If they can't help, we'll take a look.
Is Panasonic as good as Daikin or Mitsubishi Electric?
For most homes, yes. The Etherea is as quiet on its lowest setting as the premium units from Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric, and Panasonic usually costs a little less. Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric offer more design ranges.
